DELTAwater keeps Australian food producers producing

The current coronavirus (COVID-19) has highlighted the significant contribution the Australian agricultural industry is making in providing quality fresh food for a nation in lockdown.

One thing all food production relies on is access to high quality water, with many of the biggest food producing regions using bore water to keep up with production.

A large portion of this sector has been turning to 100% Australian water treatment company DELTAwater solutions for more than 25 years to keep their businesses on track.

Alex and Dianne Panov founded DELTAwater solutions to treat water quality problems including salinity, scale build-up caused by calcium and magnesium, water hardness, iron and corrosion.

With their manufacturing plant in Newcastle, the company’s products treat problem water across Australia and in other countries including New Zealand, the US and South Africa.

North Queensland lime orchardist Phil Oliver says his family wouldn’t be farming without the DELTA, which they have installed on their 600-tree Tahitian lime orchard at Biboohra, north of Mareeba, as well as on their household water supply.

“People call me and ask why I’ve got so many limes and I tell them we wouldn’t be here without the DELTA. I’ll never disconnect it, no way. Since we put our DELTA on we’ve consistently had four times the amount of produce.”

Then there’s fourth-generation Bundaberg fruit and vegetable grower Anthony Rehbein who last year merged Bunda Ginga, Lavish Flowers and Hummock Produce to create One Little Farm.

Within two weeks of Anthony installing a DELTAwater treatment system, he says their crops grown on bore water started to transform and come to life.

“There was a huge reduction in leaf burn and a size increase in our commodities, which in turn has resulted in an overall increase in yield. There was a remarkable change in the quality of our product because of DELTAwater. I would recommend others to use the system – it’s great,” Anthony says.

NSW farmer Stephen Way at Deniliquin says DELTAwater solutions ‘chucked a big lifeline’ to their farm when they first installed the technology in 2008, and has been providing that lifeline ever since. “The DELTA unit paid for itself many times over in the first year, it saved our farm in the last drought and more than a decade later, it continues to produce excellent results in treating previously unusable water,” Stephen says.
