Better water for homestead gardens and town supplies - Delta Water

Better water for homestead gardens and town supplies

At DELTAwater solutions, we are reminded daily of the importance of better quality water during drought.

Our focus during the ongoing drought that many parts of Australia is experiencing is to support families and businesses by giving them access to better quality water through the treatment of salinity, scale, algae, iron, calcium and corrosion.

We are still getting water tests coming into our laboratory from customers we spoke to at our most recent field day, Ag Quip in Gunnedah.

The past two years of our 21 years at AgQuip have been our busiest ever. Water quality and making the most of the dwindling water supplies that are available in regional NSW are a major issue for people on farms and in towns, and this is reflected in the number of people who sought us out at AgQuip. This year we had people lining up for up to an hour to speak to us.

Town water treatment system

Our Ag-Quip customers are generally people experiencing water quality issues on farms but the past two years has also seen a spike in demand for DELTA’s town water treatment system.

A lot of rural towns are on water restrictions, and have been for a long time. The quality of town water in places such as Tamworth, Gunnedah and Narrabri are causing problems with scale and corrosion which ruins appliances and that’s something our water treatment conditioners address.

Homestead gardens

AgQuip is also a reminder of how critical homestead gardens are to people’s wellbeing during drought. We speak to so many people wanting to improve their salty bore water supplies so they don’t lose their historic homestead gardens. It is so important to come home off their drought-stricken property to a green oasis around the house.

Stock and irrigation

The quality of water for stock and irrigation is also suffering as supplies become more scarce.

Stock and irrigation farmers are having to resort to poor quality bore water supplies because they can’t use their river water. We are treating problems ranging from blockages in stock trough pumps and pipes because of calcium scale buildup to situations where farmers are having trouble establishing crops because of high salinity levels.

Alex and Dianne Panov founded DELTAwater solutions more than 25 years ago. They are both off the land and understand what people are going through when they have so little water, and when what they do have is of such poor quality. This is one of the reasons we started manufacturing our DELTA water treatment conditioners in the first place.

A key focus of DELTAwater solutions is to support people in regional areas by giving them access to better quality water that they normally wouldn’t be able to use.
