Planning critical for long-term water security

Planning for long-term water security during what weather forecasters are describing as a ‘super El Nino’ is critical for water-dependent industries.

Large-scale Chinese vegetable grower James Osborne is preparing for summer and an expansion of his business by installing a DELTAwater solutions G50 magnetic water conditioning system. The G50, released earlier this year, is DELTAwater’s strongest unit.

James is based on the NSW mid north coast and supplies the Sydney Fruit and Vegetable Markets.

Large-scale irrigators, wineries, broadacre cropping, thoroughbred horse studs and fruit and vegetable farms are among industries using the DELTAwater technology to stop water problems such as leaf burn, calcium scale build-up and salinity build-up in soils.

Annual soil tests show that DELTA-treated water results in a permanent reduction of soil EC, sodium and chloride.

The chemical and power free products are customised based on results from the company’s water testing and advisory service, DELTAwater LABS.

South West Advanced Trees owner David Winters at Allansford in Victoria installed a DELTAwater solutions conditioner in 2025 to treat river and bore water at his large tree nursery.

With severe drought conditions reducing his water levels, the salt, iron, calcium and overall hardness were climbing to alarming rates. He tried shandying the river and bore water but knew he needed a more sustainable solution.

“Before installing my DELTA I lost around 30 thousand dollars worth of stock due to the salinity of the water building up in the soil over time,” David said.

“After installation, despite it being quite dry and hot and the salinity in the water still high, the condition of my trees is unbelievable.
