Chinese mining project broker visits Australian water treatment company

The Chinese agent who brokered a multi-million dollar mining contract for Australian manufacturing company DELTAwater solutions has made a flying visit to Newcastle.

DELTAwater solutions founding directors Alex and Dianne Panov hosted their Chinese agent Will Cheng and his family in the first face-to-face meeting between the business associates since they started working together 18 years ago.

Mr Cheng, from Shanxi Hong Baiqin Sc&Tec Co. Ltd, has brokered a three-year contract worth up to $6.6 million to supply DELTAwater’s Australian-made water treatment systems to China’s biggest coal mining company, The Shendong Mining Group.

Shendong is a division of China Energy which is focussed on adopting renewable, clean energy practices. Scaling is a major problem in all mining, costing companies millions in chemical treatments to keep pumps and pipes clear.

Shendong is installing DELTAwater solutions’ chemical and power free water treatment systems in underground mines.

“What attracts mining companies to our product is a combination of our focus on sustainability,” Mr Panov said.

“One of the key features of our system is that it eliminates the need for ongoing maintenance, chemical handling, or expensive refills – a key consideration during Will’s negotiations with Shendong. We manufacture a simple, cost-effective solution that doesn’t require chemical storage or complex safety protocols.”

Mr Panov said it was special to meet in person after so many years in business together.

“It was a privilege and an honour to host Will and his family,” Alex said.

“They visited our office and manufacturing plant and we were also able to show them around the sights of Newcastle. After 18 years we feel we know him well and we appreciate the work he has done for us.

“This long-term relationship and the successful results being achieved with our products in China give us considerable confidence in the future.”

The project’s second batch of magnetic water treatment conditioners will leave Newcastle via air freight next week. DELTAwater solutions uses highly-durable magnets which lose only one per cent of their power over 20 years.
