Newcastle manufacturing company solves scaling problems in coal mines with sustainable water treatment solution

Today marks major milestone at Newcastle manufacturing company DELTAwater solutions, with the first batch of customised magnetic water treatment conditioners in a three-year deal on its way to China.
This batch is the first of many that will be manufactured in Newcastle as part of the project, worth up to $6.6 million, to supply water treatment systems to China’s biggest coal mining company, The Shendong Mining Group.
Shendong is a division of China Energy which is focussed on adopting renewable, clean energy practices.
DELTAwater solutions founding directors Alex and Dianne Panov said they were extremely proud to have achieved this milestone in partnership with their agent in China, Will Cheng from Shanxi Hong Baiqin Sc&Tec Co. Ltd.
Scaling is a major problem in all mining, costing companies millions in chemical treatments to keep pumps and pipes clear. The DELTAwater solutions water treatment system is chemical and power free, and has been through more than 30 years of in-field research and development.
“What attracts mining companies to DELTAwater solutions is a combination of our focus on sustainability and the fact that we have a simple, cost-effective solution that doesn’t require chemical storage or complex safety protocols,” Mr Panov said.
DELTAwater solutions uses magnets that are exceptionally durable, losing only one per cent of their power over 20 years.
“We are proud to manufacture an environmentally friendly solution that also doesn’t require power or maintenance. You just attach one of our conditioners to the water supply, and it will do the rest,” Mr Panov said.
