Water testing service underpins DELTAwater success

Understanding people’s water problems before recommending a solution is the key to the success of Australian company DELTAwater solutions, says agent of more than 25 years John Powderly.
John, born and bred in Young and involved in the water industry his whole working life, says he’s proud to have worked with DELTAwater since the Newcastle-based water treatment business started.
“What really sets them apart is the fact they always test the water before they recommend one of their DELTAwater conditioners. If you don’t follow this path you could end up with any quality of water conditioner and it’s not going to work,” John says.
John runs the family business Powderly’s Pumping and Irrigation out of Young, an area renowned for its cherries and grapes. Problems growers face include salty bore water and salt build-up in soils.
“Droughts keep coming and going and rural communities have become more and more reliant on bore water. Because it’s so salty and a lot of the time not useable, we really need a good quality water conditioner for our customers. DELTAwater solutions fills that spot admirably.”
John says it doesn’t take long for his customers to see results.
We’ve got quite a few DELTAs on grapes and they’re getting better growth, better coloured leaves, better production of fruit – better all round. Plus they’re noticing less salt buildup in their soils.
DELTA-treated water for gardens
Home gardens in the Young district also get the DELTA treatment, particularly during drought when reliance on bore water supplies increases.
“People come to us because they can’t grow anything in the garden because they’ve using the bore water so much and it’s building up salt in their soils. We tell them they need a DELTAwater conditioner, they buy them, and they work.”
Better water for agriculture
Alex and Dianne Panov founded DELTAwater to address common water quality problems such as salinity, scale, iron and corrosion. With a practical nature, ag backgrounds and hands-on experience, their early development of the water treatment technology was inspired by seeing the impact poor quality water had on the agricultural industry. With no environmentally-friendly, high quality practical solution on the Australian market, they set about designing and manufacturing a solution.
