DELTA Diamond delivers the perfect coffee

Craig Mottlee and Bronwyn Fenner spend their days perfecting the perfect cup of coffee for their customers across Newcastle.

The co-owners of CB Coffee Cart, who start work at 5am, know how important that crucial hit of coffee can be to making the day run smoothly for people in the NSW’s second biggest city.  Craig and Bronwyn want the coffee they craft from their mobile van to be consistent, of high quality and exactly how their clients order it.

And they say it’s the water treatment technology of Newcastle-based company DELTAwater solutionsthat’s helping them deliver that perfect cuppa outside businesses, in board rooms and beside sporting fields seven days a week.

Craig and Bronwyn first met DELTAwater solutions when they pulled up outside their business premises and made them a coffee. They got talking with owners Alex and Dianne Panov and realised that they’d hit on a scale-reduction solution for the scale build-up which was causing blockages in their machine.

They installed a DELTA Diamond unit which is specifically designed for household appliances, gardens and in commercial situations.

“We make about 150 cups of coffee a day, so basically we’re trying to make 150 people happy a day and the DELTA Diamond unit we’ve installed is making a big contribution,” Craig says.

“Our water is now nice and crystal clear. Our business has definitely improved right from the time we started treating our water with the DELTA Diamond water treatment technology.”

Mid last year the business partners struck problems with continual blocking of their old coffee machine, which they bought with the business the previous year. The van’s sink tap was clogging too. The duo back-flushed equipment regularly but still found it difficult to get a consistent flow of water through the coffee head.

“So we got a brand new machine in July last year and noticed in its glass viewing window that scale began building up within days,” Craig says. “We didn’t have a viewing window in our old machine so the build-up in the new one was very noticeable.  At one point it was the size of a pea.”

Craig said they turned to Alex and Dianne to address water-quality issues including mineral build-upand inconsistent taste of supply.

“Bronwyn and I would fill up from different water points and Alex and Dianne recommended we try to perfect the water before it got to the machine and did any damage,” Craig says.

He says it took mere minutes for improvements to start flowing.

“After we got the DELTA Diamond, every day the scale build-up got smaller and smaller until it disappeared,” Craig says. “It hasn’t come back for six months now.

“We are very happy with it. We tell people all the time they should all have a DELTA Diamond on their homes. It’s amazing the amount of money people spend on bottled water but we’ve got water coming out of the sink in our coffee van that tastes better than home supply.

“It would be great for motor homes too.”
